| What you thought when you first sailed the Bladerider |
It's so quiet, the helm is so light, I'm going SO FAST, and gybing sure takes a steady hand! |
| What are your sailing goals |
A podium finish at the Moth Worlds (some day) and to win the America's Cup, as far as results. More importantly to keep learning something every day about sailboats and making them go fast and ideally also the right way |
A quote to summarise your Bladerider |
A great product, worth every penny! Rigging it straight out of the box and getting up on the foils my first sail was impressive. It is rejeuvenating to be so exicted to simply go sailing, and it is great to be so stoked after just an hour on the water! |
Kevin grew up sailing sabots and Lasers in Vetura, CA. He won 4 youth national titles and the Singlehanded Youth World Championship. He was twice Laser North American Champion, and also won North American titles in the 420, 49er, Finn, and Teams Racing. 3 bronzes at the 49er worlds didn't amount to an Olympic berth in 2000, but squats, protein shakes and a year of dedicated Finn sailing did in 2004, where he finished 11th.
As navigator with Emirates Team New Zealand he won the Louis Vuitton Cup in 2007, then competed in the America's Cup Finals in Valencia. He ordered his bladerider during that event to make sure the next sailing he did was fast and fun!
He is currently the navigator with Team New Zealand but is not really sure where the next mark is or which way to round it!
