History

Bladerider International Pty Ltd began as KA Sail Australia in 1995 with Andrew McDougall as a sail design business. In 1995, the company was the first to apply windsurfing sail technology (MSL) to International Moths and saw immediate success with top two places in the Australian and World Championships that year.

In 2000 began a new era in moth and dinghy sailing with the first experimental hydrofoils for moth class boats.

June 2005 - Michael McAuley formed Bladerider International with Andrew McDougall and Rohan Veal, with the objective to mass-produce a one-design hydrofoil moth called the Bladerider X8.

May 2006 - The Bladerider X8 was proposed to the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) for consideration for the 2012 Olympic Games.

September 2006 - Bladerider International appointed McConaghy Boats to the build the Bladerider at its facility in China.

January 2007 - Rohan Veal sailed a prototype Bladerider X8 and won the first regatta it entered with a near perfect score - the historic Australian Moth Championships.

March 2007 - Bladerider International began to deliver the first of its mass produced boats.

April 2007 - The company moved into its new headquarters and distribution centre in Melbourne, Australia.

May 2007 - Bladerider International and McConaghy Boats have setup a jointly a new manufacturing plant in Zhuhai, just north of Macau. John Bertrand is also appointed to the board of directors.

June 2007 - Bladerider Sales Manager Rohan Veal wins the 2007 Moth World Championships on the Bladerider X8 with an 8-0 scorecard. Fellow X8 Team Sailor Scott Babbage finishes second overall.

August 2007 - Bladerider ships out X8 hull #50.

November 2007 - Bladerider Sales Manager Rohan Veal is short listed as a finalist for the Rolex ISAF World Sailor of the Year.

December 2007 - Bladerider ships out X8 hull #100.

January 2008 - Bladerider X8 Team Sailors finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 2008 Australian Championships.

May 2008 - Bladerider ships out X8 hull #150.
